The variable climate in Fiordland provides an ever changing environment so it is continually challenging and entertaining. With its crystal clear rivers & Lakes, sight fishing is well suited to the area and the variety of Lakes and rivers provides options in an ever changing environment.
Brown trout are predominant, with some area's averaging more with rainbows. Average trout size is around 2 – 3 pounds, though it is not unusual to catch larger ones. Trout tend to vary in different locations from challenging to wild and flighty.
Trolling for Trout
No fishing experrience needed, and is ideal for couples or those with limited time who wish to enjoy the scenic beauty of Lake Manapouri and have a fish at the same time.
Options for 2 or more to go aboard Freedom 111 on the Lake trolling or for 1 or 2 people to cruise down the Waiau river for a fish in our smaller Boat the 'Waiau'.
